Music, Piano

Oban is a recent graduate of Wilfred Laurier University, having received a Bachelor of Music Education. At school, he studied a variety of advanced piano repertoire, ranging from Bach Partitas to Christopher O'Riley's Radiohead transcriptions, all under the instruction of Elaine Lau. Alongside this, Oban recently served as the Assistant Conductor to the Laurier Symphony Orchestra, helping organise outreach performances, running rehearsals, and leading the orchestra in its final concert of the 2022/2023 academic year. His recent endeavours in chamber music have proven to be highly rewarding musical experiences with a fruitful blend of ensemble work and piano performance. Outside of music, Oban has been working with the Waterloo Region School Board as a tutor for students new to Canada in a local high school's English Literacy Development program. He strives to teach students from an empathetic perspective, being cognizant of the cultural and social powers that influence music education, wile also maintaining a safe and fun atmosphere for learning.
