ABOUT Rylan

Rylan Allen serves as the Music Director for the Junior and Senior Musical Theatre Ensembles at the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts (HCA), where he brings a wealth of experience and passion to his role. Rylan is dedicated to teaching and perfecting over 30 songs each semester to the Junior and Senior Musical Theatre Ensemble classes, where they perform them for their end-of-season recitals.  On top of that, he also spends an hour a week nurturing the talents of young performers in the Novice Triple Threat program.

Rylan has been an integral part of HCA for four years, but his love for the performing arts began much earlier. He started performing at the age of 12 and gained invaluable experience while he was a teenager by assistant teaching at Theatre Aquarius under the mentorship of Lou Zamprogna.

Over the years, Rylan has worn many hats across the Hamilton, Toronto, and Niagara regions, excelling as a performer, choreographer, assistant stage manager, and music director. He starred in the sold-out production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the 2023 Brott Music Festival in Hamilton and played Noel Gruber in the acclaimed run of Ride the Cyclone by The Playhouse Collective. His pre-pandemic work included roles with Canadiana Productions in Niagara, where he eventually became the dance captain and choreographer for their original shows.

A graduate of Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Program in 2019, Rylan is committed to fostering a love of the arts in his students, focusing on building confidence, memorization, characterization, musicianship, and professionalism.

Beyond his work in music and theatre, Rylan enjoys creative pursuits like Dungeons and Dragons, gaming, and reading, and loves his strolls to Starbucks.
