ABOUT Nicole
Nicole Booyse is a dedicated educator and accomplished artist with an extensive background in fine arts and educational leadership. Beginning her academic journey at St. Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls in Boksburg, Gauteng, South Africa, she completed her Grade 12 education in 2007. She continued her studies at the University of Johannesburg, where she achieved a National Diploma in Fine Art with a
major in Art History, Drawing, and Painting, graduating with Cum Laude honours in 2010. Her academic pursuits culminated in a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Fine Art in 2011, with a dissertation and accompanying practical exhibition, also earning her Cum Laude recognition.
In addition to her academic achievements, Nicole completed further certifications, including a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of South Africa. She also holds certifications from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in Grade 5 Theory of Music and Grade 6 Piano, showcasing her proficiency in music theory and performance.
Throughout her professional career, Nicole has held various educational roles, including serving as an educator at Hillfield Strathallan College, where she was the Visual Arts Co-ordinator responsible for designing assessments and lesson plans aligned with the Ontario Curriculum for Grade 6 and 7 Visual Art. Her commitment to nurturing artistic talent is evident through her roles as a tutor at Capstone Music School, where she coordinates personalized music lessons, and her previous position as an educator at Braemar College, where she taught Visual Art and English courses for grades 9-12 and supervised various school clubs and committees, reflecting her dedication to enriching the student experience beyond the classroom.
Nicole’s teaching experience extends to international settings, having previously held positions at Boksburg High School and Curro Serengeti Academy in South Africa. During her tenure at these institutions, she played pivotal roles in coordinating Visual Art, Design, and Creative Arts curriculums, as well as fulfilling duties as a school Yearbook Convenor and Designer, showcasing her multi-faceted involvement in academic and creative endeavours.
In addition to her academic and instructional roles, Nicole has actively engaged in mentoring and tutoring, striving to create personalized learning experiences that cater to the unique needs of each student. Her approach fosters a supportive and enriching learning environment, evidenced by her commitment to guiding Grade 12 learners and providing content-based assistance for English and History.
Throughout her career, Nicole’s dedication to education, creativity, and mentorship has been a driving force. She is committed to inspiring and empowering students to explore their artistic potential and provide a nurturing learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth.
