ABOUT GALEN
Galen Sedlak is a multifaceted vocalist, educator, and instrumentalist with a diverse background in jazz, classical, and traditional music. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Jazz Performance from Humber College, where he studied jazz voice, ensemble performance, and vocal pedagogy. He loves teaching all ages voice, piano and violin.
Galen has extensive experience in both jazz and choral settings, having performed in jazz ensembles, vocal jazz groups, and classical choirs. During his time at Humber College, he performed with Hilario Durán’s Latin Jazz Ensemble and Lisa Martinelli’s Vocal Jazz Group. He has also performed at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and participated in Humber’s Jazz in the Schools outreach program, bringing live jazz performance and music education to students in underserved communities.
As an educator, Galen has been teaching private music lessons for over eight years. He teaches one-on-one vocal lessons as well as group music classes, and also offers beginner instruction in classical and jazz piano.
In addition to voice and piano, Galen teaches violin and has studied through both the Suzuki method and the Royal Conservatory of Music. He is also an active fiddle player, studying and performing traditional styles including East Coast Canadian, Cape Breton, Acadian, Scottish, and Irish fiddle traditions.
