ABOUT CELINE
Celine is a singer and voice teacher in Hamilton, Ontario, and has been teaching voice and beginner piano for over seven years. Described as a “warm and lovely mezzo”, Celine specializes in Western Classical music while also having experience in Country music, Pop/Rock music, and Musical Theatre. Celine completed her undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montréal in vocal performance as well as a master’s degree in vocal pedagogy at the University of Toronto, under the supervision of Professor Lorna MacDonald. Celine teaches around the Hamilton area through one-on-one lessons, choral workshops, masterclasses, adjudication, as well as performing regularly. Celine loves to perform in a variety of genres and is as comfortable singing with her guitar as she is in a gown. Most recently Celine has performed with the Masterworks Choir & Orchestra in Oakville, Musicata in Hamilton, Chorus Hamilton, Bach Elgar Choir in Hamilton, Hamilton Children’s Choir, and she frequently returns to sing with Whispering River Music in her hometown of Parry Sound. She has also released a few original songs to online streaming platforms.
Celine has experience teaching voice to ages 7 and up from beginner to intermediate, as well as beginner piano. She is especially passionate about helping students find their own unique sound through efficient, satisfying vocalization. Celine teaches with a balance of music theory, ear training, rhythmic understanding, vocal technique, and repertoire; components which are integral to a balanced music education. Her goal for each student is to help them become a competent and well-rounded musician, as well as a fine singer. Celine holds to the importance of regular performance, as it builds character and lays the foundation for confidence and self-discovery throughout a student’s life, musical or otherwise. She desires to help each student reach their goals, whether it be an upcoming performance, a Royal Conservatory/Conservatory Canada exam, or learning to sing/play in a way that brings the student joy. Celine’s students have gone on to acquire principal roles in local musicals, achieve honour levels in their RCM exams, place at local music competitions, qualify for provincial-level competitions, and be accepted to university programs for voice studies and music.
Celine looks forward to working with any prospective students who are excited to learn and make music.
