ABOUT CELINE

Originally from Parry Sound, Ontario, Celine graduated with honours from the McGill Schulich School of Music in Montréal with a vocal performance degree in which she studied with Dr. Tracy Smith-Bessette. Currently she is completing her masters degree in Vocal Pedagogy at the University of Toronto under Lorna MacDonald. Celine has been performing for over 10 years in classical, pop/contemporary, and musical theatre. As a teenager Celine performed locally in Parry Sound in pop and country at local venues and festivals such as Country in the Woods and Boots and Spurs. Later at McGill, she had the opportunity to be a chorus member in three Opera McGill productions, play the role of Dorcas in Opera McGill Horizon Project’s production of Thomas and Sally, hold two public recitals, and be a member of the Schulich Singers choir. Recently Celine has performed Beethoven’s Mass in C with Chorus Hamilton, Handel’s Messiah with Whispering River Music, Handel’s Messiah sing-along with the Bach Elgar Choir, and has been featured in Whispering River Music’s past Riversongs festivals.

Celine has experience teaching voice to all ages from beginner to intermediate, as well as beginner piano. She is especially passionate about helping students find their own unique sound through healthy, satisfying vocalization. Celine teaches with a balance of music theory, ear training, rhythmic understanding, vocal technique, and repertoire; components which are integral to a balanced music education. Each lesson is tailored to each individual student as no one musician is exactly alike. Her goal for each student is to help them become a competent and well-rounded musician, as well as a fine singer. Celine holds to the importance of regular performance, as it builds character and lays the foundation for confidence and self-discovery throughout a student’s life, musical or otherwise. She desires to help each student reach their goals, whether it be an upcoming performance, a Royal Conservatory/Conservatory Canada exam, or learning to sing/play in a way that brings the student joy.

Celine looks forward to working with any prospective students who are excited to learn and make music.
