ABOUT BOHDANA
Bohdana Liashko is a music conductor. She holds a master’s degree as a conductor and pedagogy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in Slovakia. Music for her is primarily an emotion that helps to make our lives brighter. She offers vocal and piano lessons. Bohdana, who came from Ukraine, started playing music at the age of 5. She has always been fond of playing and singing, and later went to study the profession of conductor to understand the intricacies of all musical styles.
For the last 8 years, she has lived in Bratislava, Slovakia where she studied and worked as a teacher at a music school, teaching vocal, piano, music theory, music history, solfege, children’s choir and worked with children with Down Syndrome. She also worked with various vocal groups and choirs as a conductor and vocal coach.
During her years in Europe, Bohdana participated in various master classes and workshops related to pedagogy and music.
Now Bohdana lives in Canada. She has worked as a piano and vocal teacher at a music school in London, Ontario, and also worked with the Amabile Choir.
In the summer of 2024, she moved to Hamilton and is now working with the Hamilton Children’s Choir and the Hamilton School of Music.
Due to her wide experience working with different age groups and different types of ensembles, Bohdana easily finds an approach to her students and teaches them to understand and love music.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy is that music is an emotion, and we can share our emotions through music with the whole world and make it brighter and kinder in this way.
