Elena began her expansive piano career after graduating with honours from Music Academy for Gifted Children and earning a master's degree in piano performance from the University of Moscow.
Specializing in classical music with occasional detours to popular or musical theatre, she has pursued her work of teaching and performing for over 30 years in Europe and Canada. Her portfolio includes performing a vast and diverse repertoire as both a soloist and as part of chamber music ensembles - touring and recording in Russia, Germany and Asia. In Canada, she performed as a soloist and chamber's player, in recitals (Vancouver, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa) and in commissioned recordings for CBC. She has taught piano in Germany, South Korea and upon coming to Canada, taught at the Conservatory of Performing Arts at the University of Regina. She later shifted focus to provide private lessons, while holding position as organist and choir director in the Presbyterian Church.
In her 30 years of teaching, Elena has helped students of all ages and levels transition from beginners to advanced players both in musical theory and practical piano. She has successfully prepared students for the Royal Conservatory of Music examinations from beginner to advanced levels (included ARCT), helping them achieve First Class Honors and First Class Honors with Distinction. In addition, she often encourages and supports her students wishing to participate in the Kiwanis Festival. Many of her students have successfully participated in the Ontario Provincial competitions.
Elena's approach to teaching is rooted in understanding the goals of her students and helping them to learn through their individual strengths - whether it be in classical or pop music. She is committed to working around the student's lifestyle to deliver results. Elena hopes to develop her student's confidence, skills and talents through positive encouragement and access to performance opportunities.
