Paul Elia (Solo Exhibition)

February 21, 2015 - March 28, 2015

Opening Reception: March 13, 2015, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm

Paul Elia digitally integrates photography and illustration to create engaging panoramic urban streetscapes. These digitally illustrated prints depict Hamilton's post-industrial cityscapes, often highlighting the surreal tension between the imposing industrial shells from a manufacturing history and the residential development around it.

“I am interested in the way the built environment around us expresses the history of a city, and reflects the story of the people who live in it. Empty factories loom over century-old row houses. Victorian brick homes line leafy streets with smokestacks peeking through in the distance. It can be beautiful and ugly all at the same time. My digital illustrations aim to celebrate these unique assets as truthfully as possible.”
