MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Raniya Farah
Raniya Farah began ballet at the age of 3 at the Rajka Kupesic School of Classical Ballet, where she gained a valuable technical foundation in ballet, pointe, and character work. There, she had the opportunity to compete internationally in the Mia Corak Slavenska Competition in Zagreb, Croatia. As well, she received the prestigious Marijan Bayer Award from the Society of Classical Ballet for outstanding technical merit and artistic achievement in the Vaganova style. After graduation, she then went on to get her certification as an associate teacher with the organization, and has since been able to teach a variety of students of different studios, levels, ages, and styles. Along with teaching, she is still actively training and performing. She spent the past year training in New York City with New York Dance Project, where she was able to diversify her dance vocabulary and focus on different styles of dance such as modern, contemporary, jazz, hip hop and fusion styles. This also included touring to different states, as well as an 8 show run of the Nutcracker in Key West, Florida. Further, she spent five weeks of her summer training at Ballet Jorgen, and then went on to join International Dance Academy’s Junior Company during their touring of Southern Italy. This involved performing classical excerpts from La Bayadère and Paquita, as well as contemporary works. Currently, she is dancing with Ballet Ouest in Montreal and is working towards their 12-show run of The Nutcracker in various cities within Quebec. Other companies she has worked with include Ballet Reveries, We Call it Ballet, Ismailova Theatre of Dance, Yasmina Ramzy Arts, and more. She is immensely excited to be joining the team at the Hamilton Conservatory of the Arts!
