ART FUNDAMENTALS
HCA School of Visual Arts
ART FUNDAMENTALS
In Art Fundamentals, students will develop artistic skills while exploring diverse mediums and styles, working from their own ideas to create original works of art. Taking inspiration from historical and contemporary artists, they will learn the fundamentals and techniques of drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and printmaking. Students will be encouraged to complete original individual and group pieces in a supportive atmosphere that is both fun and rewarding. They will build a personal portfolio of their works as well as display their favourite pieces in a final term exhibition, VASE (Visual Arts Student Exhibition), in the HCA Gallery.

Sarah Rahmanian
Sara Rahmanian is an artist fascinated by everyday objects and the bitter satire of contemporary life. She uses painting to explore the imaginative gaps between reality and perception and how the contradictions can open up an opportunity for transition. Rahmanian’s work suggests that the migration experience can queer concepts of gender, imagination and ideas of the home. Her paintings draw from first-person perspectives, defamiliarizing the mundane to invite a heightened sense of contemplation about her surroundings. Using both canvas and non-traditional surfaces, painting has become her go-to medium for playing hide and seek with objects, but more often than not, the process surprises her. She holds a BA in Painting from the Tehran University of Art and graduated from Yale School of Art with an MFA in Painting and Printmaking in 2021 and her works have been shown in solo and group shows in Iran, UAE, Italy and the United States.
