ORFF – a Natural Approach |
This program introduces children to experiencing music before learning to read music. Classes will emphasize voice and movement through singing games/dances, beat and rhythm through body percussion. The Orff instruments (xylophones, drums, tambourines, wood blocks, etc.) are used to bring the child to an understanding of beat and rhythm.
The Orff II and III classes continue to place emphasis on vocal development, movement, and add more in depth work on the instruments, learning to play one and then two or three rhythmic structures.
More independent work is carried out in composing their own melodic patterns and improvising.
